Tax relief on donations from companies and individuals

1 January, 2026 donor management

Offering your donors tax relief on their donations is becoming an increasingly common way to give back as a fundraising organisation. But manually compiling donor information and transactions that qualify for tax relief each year is often a large administrative task to complete, but it doesn't have to be that way. Octany handles the entire tax relief process automatically, from collection to finished report ready to upload to the Tax Agency.

Benefits of automatic handling

  • Ready file for the Tax Agency's system
  • No manual compilation needed
  • Upload the file directly to the Tax Agency

Automatic handling – from donation to finished report

In Octany you can collect all the information needed to offer your donors tax relief on their donations.

Octany checks that all conditions are met – that each donation is at least 200 kronor for individuals or 2,000 kronor for companies, and that the total amount reaches the minimum level, and that the donor has provided their personal ID number or organisation number.

When the year is over, you retrieve a ready file that is formatted for the Tax Agency's system so you can report quickly and easily. No manual compilation is needed but you get a ready file to report to the Tax Agency.

Tax relief for both individuals and companies

Both individuals and companies can receive tax relief on their donations to your organisation, provided that you are approved gift recipients by the Tax Agency.

For individuals this means 25 per cent back on tax for donations between 2,000 and 12,000 kronor per year, which can provide up to 3,000 kronor in tax relief.

Companies can receive 20.6 per cent back on donations up to 800,000 kronor annually, with a maximum tax relief of 164,800 kronor. This makes it more attractive to give larger amounts and builds long-term relationships with your donors and companies that support your work.
